The aim of this research project is to investigate the impact of contact with different natural environments in childhood on adult creativity and mental health. Participation in this study involves the completion of an online questionnaire. The questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes to complete but may take longer if you choose to include additional descriptive information.
Why were you chosen for this research?
You have been selected for this study because you have responded to advertisements placed on social media. You must be over the age of 18 to participate.
Consenting to participate in the project and withdrawing from the research
Participation in this research is voluntary. Your consent to participate in this project is assumed if you select "I consent" and click “next” at the bottom of the page to proceed with the survey. As no identifying information is requested, it is not possible to withdraw from the survey after you have submitted any responses.
Possible benefits and risks to participants
You may benefit indirectly from this research as it is intended to inform local and national governments about the environmental characteristics that are related to adult creativity and psychological well-being.
This survey includes questions about psychological well-being that may induce some minor discomfort. If you become aware of any mental health issues because of completing these measures, you may wish to consider contacting one of the free mental health support services below:

Individuals who complete the survey and wish to be in contention for a gift card will be required to provide an email address so that they can be notified in the event of winning a prize. Details on how to provide your email address for this purpose is provided at the end of the survey. Funding for this research has been provided by the School of Psychology at Deakin University.
Confidentiality and anonymity are a priority. At no point will you be asked to provide your name or personal details. If you would like to have a chance of winning one of the gift cards you will be asked to provide an email address that you can be contacted on. It is not possible for the researchers to match email addresses to survey responses, so your privacy is assured.
Storage of data
All data will be captured in the Qualtrics survey and stored for the duration of the research project. The research and the research data will be monitored weekly by the Principle Investigator. The data will be analysed using software specific for the requirements of the study and destroyed five years after the final publication of the research outcomes. Data will be stored on a secure drive and will be accessible only to the research team.
Use of data for other purposes
The data may be used for projects where ethics approval has been granted. Only aggregate de-identified data will be used for other projects where ethics approval has been granted.
Results
Research findings may be presented at a conference, in journal articles, and will be produced in a thesis format. If requested, a copy of any publication arising from the study will be provided.
